Another song! It seems that once I got past the initial block, the floodgates burst open. I literally can’t stop making music, especially this style of music. I love working on “projects” and this “album” is definitely one. I like what I have going on right now. I am planning on making 12 songs of this stuff, but we’ll see if I change my mind and end up with less songs.

But regardless, here’s the heaviest song of all the three so far. I call it “Heartroots” and all it lacks is a distorted guitar and it’d be pure metal. It’s getting to be rather intense. The previous song I made “Phonetic” was already much heavier than the first “Slacker”. I personally prefer the heavier stuff, but I suppose the slowness of “Slacker” gives a nice breather.

Anyway! About this song. It was made with the same “template” that I used for all the other songs, and largerly with the same synths. I used mostly Kore and Razor. I love Razor, it’s a great synth to program. Even though I sometimes end up being lazy and using just a preset. Sorry about that. No presets in this song, however.

So, I couldn’t help myself. I made another song. In a… er, very short time.

This one is much better in my opinion and I definitely played it much tighter. It’s also much more typically my style. The “template” is more or less the same as the previous song. I did add a drum machine to get some more bass out of the kick. This one seemed to require some more oomph. It’s also much more “danceable” song than the previous one.

All in all, it’s just like the previous one but has 95.6% more of me in it. And I retired my own blog audio player, here’s Bandcamp’s embedded one:

So, I have tried to make some new music but I have always failed. After multiple tries, I decided that this was because of my templates. Y’see, I do a lot of my music based on templates. Which are basically a ready mixes of drums and bass, et cetera. But I haven’t made any new templates for a while, since we haven’t been working on an album or any other major project.

So all of my stuff from those templates ended up not sounding right. To fix this, I decided to make a new template. Or at least start from a scratch. I spent two hours making a new bass sound tweaking knobs and then finding proper reverbs and equalizations on computer. Once that was done I started working on some basic drums. Before I noticed, I had a new song. I call it “Slacker”. Probably a reference to the bassist.

The song is a little atypical for me, but also has parts that are basically archetypical for me. So, go figure. I’d classify it somewhere around “Electronic Rock”. Nothing too heavy, but rather dark (surprise).

So, I have news. King Fear isn’t dead, but only because I think it’s a cool name. I will publish all my personal music under the name “Jyri Straechav” but they will all be published in Bandcamp. I will give you previews of the songs here, but the downloads are only available on the bandcamp page.

Now, you can name your own prices for the songs or download them for free. But if you want to get the songs for free, I will require an valid email address. I think it’s a fair trade that you at least see enough trouble to enter your email address in order for me to give you the songs for free. You can already listen to them for free both here and on bandcamp.

If you have ever felt like donating, either in order to help me with my art or music, you can name your own price for the albums or songs. I appreciate all money.

Also, in future Kingfear.com will redirect to bandcamp page, and I will have a URL there that directs to a special dedicated page on this blog for the band.

All the money I receive from the music will go directly to support my future musical ideas, and will be appreciated more than you know. I am a poor man, and only reason why I can do music is because I don’t own a car and I don’t use money to partying or buy anything excess. Like clothes and food.

I will not store, nor use, remember, or do anything at all with the email addresses that I receive in return for you to download my songs for free. I merely consider the slight effort you have to see in order to enter the email address as a payment for the free song.

So, what’s up?

Nothing much. I am juggling some crazy ideas and notions. I am mostly, however, in a slight impasse. I feel like I should do something, but all I can think about is what I could do with a saxophone and how I would use it. But, as it happens, I don’t have one yet.

I’ve been making some visualization and I’m coming up with a fairly interesting selection of instruments that I think I will want to employ in future.

Parts of this list should be obvious, since I have been extolling the virtues of bamboo sax. I have always loved Saxophones, but only after getting the bamboo sax I have entertained the notion of getting one for myself.

Now, quickly, the list of instruments I need is as follows: Continue reading »

This is the kind of music I love to listen while painting and just generally brooding at home. Even if you didn’t brood until you pushed play, you would afterwards when listening to this.

God damn french, I hate your xenophobia, but god damn I love your experimental metal bands. Wonderful bastards. That said, this is a bit like “lite” version of Whourkr which is actually truly great, whereas this might be great in future.

And here it is, my newest song, hot from the press. I did this yesterday, and fixed the mix today. I feel like I should apologize for the guitar playing because I am playing some really simple stuff, and something that probably has already been played in some of our old songs as a quick doodle. But I think I am done apologizing for simplicity. I’ve done enough complex music and art that I think I will just indulge my predilection for minimalism.

That said, I really like the song and I hope you enjoy it as well.

Greetings,

I’ve been busy. I made a new song today. It’s still a little unfinished when it comes to mix, but otherwise it’s done. I’ll post it tomorrow… or well, today, technically. Saturday!

Yeah, I’ve also started coding a little on my free time. But music seems to be keeping me up these days. I’ve been constantly tweaking music from small sketches and song clips (which is very unlike me, I tend to do only do full songs) to actually finishing some pieces.

I blame it on Maschine. It makes it really easy for me to just doodle something random out while I am actually doing something elese on computer.

But, just dropping a note here. Tomorrow, a new song called “Wailing”, at least until I release it officially. We’ll see.

So, after a long silence I have something finished. I must admit, though, that I finished the song in a bit of a hurry because I wanted to move to greener pastures and incorporate some new ideas that the song inspired in me.

I’ve done a ridiculous amount of sketches, ideas and loops but little to no finished stuff. So, here you go. Something to listen to.
