Death Metal (genre)
Death metal is Trash Metal taken to the extreme, with the morbid and bleak subject at matter. Death metal is often progressive, although this is not a requirement of any kind. The genre just inherited these 70's influences from Metallica and such, and not directly from the source. Death Metal is loud, harsh and basically as loud a wall of noise one can generate.
These days Death Metal is more technical and complex than its progenitor Trash Metal, usually the tempo is faster and contains many key- and tempo chances, making much of Death Metal nearly progressive in its song structures, which defy normal structures.
